The Poker Talent of Kirk Morrison

Poker was actually not the first love of poker professional Kirk Morrison. He was a professional blackjack player when he first emerged in the gambling industry. As a matter of fact, blackjack was the reason why he came to Las Vegas, Nevada. However, it did not seem like blackjack was part of his destiny, and so he decided to shift to professional poker instead.

The hometown of Kirk Morrison is Wichita, Kansas. However, he has been living in New Zealand since 1999. Nevertheless, this poker professional is frequently seen in Las Vegas and in other parts of the United States due to his participation in major poker tournaments.

Known for his intuitive playing style, Kirk Morrison was first sighted at the 25th Annual World Series of Poker when he joined a Limit Hold'em event. He successfully finished third, receiving the cash prize worth US$72,300.

Kirk Morrison did not become visible until 1998 when he joined the Limit Seven Card Stud game featured at the 29th Annual World Series of Poker tournament. This poker professional earned his first World Series of Poker bracelet for winning first place, aside from the cash prize of US$148,185.

The first time that Kirk Morrison was seen at a World Poker Tour event was when he joined a No Limit Hold'em game on March 3, 2006. He did not reach the final table, but nevertheless, he finished in the money, earning him US$15,000. He actually participated in several World Poker Tour events in 2006. But perhaps, the most notable of them all was when he played an Ace to Five Draw event that put him in the third place spot. This poker professional took home US$4,260 as his cash prize from the said event.

Kirk Morrison also participated in several World Poker Tour events in 2007, but the most admirable of all occurred on April 27 when he placed second in a No Limit Hold'em Championship. The cash prize of US$2,011,135 seemed as if he won first prize instead of only second.

In June of the same year, Kirk Morrison wanted to try his luck in another No Limit Hold'em event, but this time it was an event featured at the 38th Annual World Series of Poker. This poker professional did not achieve the first place spot but he reached the final table, placing seventh. His prize winnings from such game totaled to US$63,591.

The latest major tournament that Kirk Morrison participated in was a H. O. R. S. E. event of the World Series of Poker Europe. This was held on September 8, 2007, in which he received the prize money worth US$52,960 after placing third.

With the winnings of this poker professional, there is definitely nothing wrong with his decision to shift from blackjack to poker.
